"Quick, Jim! We need to get there before all the uteruses we want to scream at go home to wait out this blizzard!"
January 22, 2016 marks the 43rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that led to safe, legal abortion in America. It also marks the date of the annual March for Life in DC, conducted by people who really hate the idea of safe, legal abortion.
This year, as a special treat from Mother Nature, who appears to be pro-choice, there will be a blizzard bearing down on DC as the marchers do their anti-choice thing. Now, I’m a long time DC area resident. I’ve seen a lot of these marches, and there are a few things I know:
1.) At least half of the marchers are teens bussed in from neighboring states. 2.) The activities for the day generally wrap up around 5 PM and those teens get on their busses and go home. 3.) The DC area goes utterly haywire during winter weather events. Last night we got 1 inch of snow, the roads iced up, there were countless accidents, and some people spent upwards of 7 hours trying to make the drive between home and work. I’m not exaggerating. That happened to a friend of mine last night. I personally spent several hours creeping the 7 miles home from work during a snowstorm in 2010. It gets bad fast.
Right now, the entire DC area workforce is making plans to NOT be at work or in a car after about noon tomorrow. Everyone with sense is trying to get their asses home to hunker down for the weekend. But not the March for Life folks! They’re going ahead full speed with their cold-ass march and suicidal drives up the coast to get home!
I’m sure that organizers all feel very righteous and holier-than-thou about persevering in the face of inclement weather, but as a parent, I have to tell you I think you’re a fucking moron if you send your kid into this mess. A wrecked bus full of teenagers isn’t pro-life. It’s idiotic.
